Training Course: TYE-Tools for Youth Exchanges, online edition

The overall aim of TYE – Tools for Youth Exchanges – is for youth leaders and youth workers to explore, share and adapt tools that can be used to improve their youth exchange projects.

A Youth Exchange needs content – behind the content are tools. Tools for Youth Exchanges is a training that enables participants to explore tools around group processes, (intercultural) learning, involvement of young people and how to facilitate these tools during a youth exchange.

The overall aim of TYE – Tools for Youth Exchanges – is for youth leaders and youth workers to explore, share and adapt tools that can be used to improve their youth exchange projects.

Special features of this course:

  • Interactive, diverse and engaging online learning experiences, tools and activities that can be easily adapted to face to face opportunities
  • Practical preparation for a new generation of Erasmus+, especially Youth Exchanges
  • Content about Erasmus+ accreditation and strategic approach to international youth work
  • Individual and group coaching to support participants in applying learning to practice

What can you expect from this course:

  • To increase awareness of group processes and experience tools that facilitate group development online and offline
  • To develop competences in designing and facilitating educational workshops online and offline
  • To explore digital and non-digital tools that support the learning process, including debriefing and recognition of learning.
  • To explore tools and models that promote intercultural learning and dialogue
  • To explore and experience online methodologies and approaches in support of realising a youth exchange project – virtual or in-person
  • To develop strategic approaches to international youth work, including understanding of Erasmus+ accreditation
  • To prepare for the new generation of Erasmus+, especially Youth Exchanges

Online course programme

The online edition of the TYE course programme is built on the past experiences of participants and will offer a combination of online learning webinars and self-paced learning experiences:

The team of facilitators will offer 6 online webinars in the span of 3 weeks between 10 May-28 May 2021. The webinars will last up to 2 hours and will be hosted during 10.00 to 12.00 Brussels time / 9.00 to 11.00 Dublin time / 11.00 to 13.00 Athens time on the following days:

  • 10th of May 2021 (Monday)
  • 11th of May 2021 (Tuesday)
  • 17th of May 2021 (Monday)
  • 18th of May 2021 (Tuesday)
  • 24th of May 2021 (Monday)
  • 28th of May 2021 (Friday)

The course participants will be expected to participate in most of the webinars. It is advised to mark these dates and times to your calendar agenda when applying.

  • Additionally, a media rich and engaging content and activities will be offered through the HOP online learning platform. The course participants will be expected to commit and complete activities offered on this platform.

Expected Guided Learning Hours:

Participants will be expected to be ready and able to participate on a variety of different levels and at a variety of different times.

  • Webinars: 6 at 2hours each
  • HOP Platform Content and Activities: estimated at 3-4 hours per week for the period of the course. Complete activities on your pace and time during a period between the 10th of May and the 28th of May, 2021
  • Group Tasks: 1-3 hours (between online sessions 2 and 6)
  • Coaching Support with Facilitators: 2-3 hours after the course delivery (optional for participants

Selected participants will be invited to join the course on the HOP online learning platform starting from the 3rd of May

Expected profile of participants

Youth workers, The training course is designed for voluntary and professional youth workers, working directly with young people, have direct contact with young people who are already involved or want to get involved in an international youth exchange.

  • Have experience in organising and/or participating as a team member in international youth exchange;
  • Have applied for a youth exchange project funding and are waiting for an answer or have a pending youth exchange;
  • Have applied for a youth exchange project and have been rejected (and are planning to apply again).
  • Have interest to prepare a quality application for a youth exchange within the new generation of Erasmus+ programme.

You should be engaged in working with young people, have direct contact with young people who are already involved or want to get involved in an international youth exchange.

This training course will be in English, without any possibility of permanent translation. Therefore, we ask you to have a good level of English (to be able to understand and to communicate).

Participants should be at least 18 years old.
