Project Associate (SDGs) National Specialist

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and the Assistant Minister for International Cooperation and in close coordination with the Strategic Planning Department within the RS Government General Secretariat, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Assist in mainstreaming sustainable development goals (SDGs) into strategic and implementation documents in RS;
- Support coordination and participation of local governments and socio-economic stakholders in SDG-based planning processes at the RS level;
- Provide support to RS institutions in designing implementation documents and in monitoring and reporting processes;
- Assist in conducting analyses of sustainable development trends in RS and support preparation of projections;
- Support monitoring and evaluation of sustainable development policies in RS;
- Assist in preparation and delivery of training programmes and other capacity development interventions related to the SDGs to policy makers and civil servants;
- Support the work of the SDGs Council;
- Support effective functioning of relevant practitioners’ network;
- Support exchange of knowledge and practices among stakeholders in implementation of the SDGs;
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education – Additional Comments:
- University Degree in Economics, Law, Political Science or other related fields. Advanced university degree is an advantage.
Required experience: 24 Months
Experience remark:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience (paid or voluntary) providing support in implementing projects and/or development policies;
- Experience in working with different stakeholders, such as government institutions, civil society organizations, etc.;
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level – Fluent
- Bosnian(Mandatory), Level – Fluent
- Croatian(Mandatory), Level – Fluent
- Serbian(Mandatory), Level – Fluent
Area of expertise: Development programme/project administration, Other development programme/project experience
Area of expertise details:
- Understanding of the overall political, administrative and institutional set-up in BiH and RS;
- Basic understanding of strategic planning and project cycle management;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software package (MS Word, Excel, Spreadsheet, Internet etc.) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management system;
- Demonstrated experience working in complex environments;
- Familiarity with UN system and UNDP rules and procedures is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and writing,
- Knowledge and experience in volunteering, and willingness to learn about volunteering.
