Training Course – Beyond the Headlines: Critical Thinking and Digital Advocacy

Training Course

30 March – 7 April 2025 | International Youth Center Pernik, Bulgaria

Through non-formal education methods and coaching techniques, the training will empower participants to design and implement social media campaigns, educational materials and more that foster positive digital engagement and critical thinking

In today’s fast-paced digital world, media shapes our perceptions, opinions, and behaviours more than ever before. However, with the rise of misinformation, online manipulation, and hate speech, simply consuming media is not enough—we must learn to critically analyze, challenge, and reshape it.

“Beyond the Headlines: Critical Thinking and Digital Advocacy” is an innovative training designed to equip participants with the skills to critically engage with media, create impactful counter-narratives, and advocate for a more responsible digital space. This program moves beyond traditional media literacy by integrating interactive learning methods, coaching techniques, and hands-on digital activism, ensuring that participants don’t just understand media influence, but also learn to actively shape it.

Through practical workshops, real-world case studies, and creative content development, participants will explore the psychology of misinformation, develop strategies to counteract harmful narratives, and harness the power of digital platforms for positive change. They will gain tools to recognize media biases, combat online violence, and promote ethical, fact-based communication in their communities.

This training is designed for youth workers, educators, community leaders, and activists who want to build their media literacy skills and take an active role in fostering critical thinking among young people. Whether you are looking to improve your own digital awareness or empower others to navigate the media landscape more effectively, this experience will provide you with the knowledge, strategies, and confidence to become a media change-maker.
