EUROPE@DJHT – 18th German Child and Youth Welfare Congress
Conference – Symposium – Forum
12-16 May 2025 | Leipzig, Germany
DJHT, also referred to in German as Deutscher Kinder- und Jugendhilfetag (German Child and Youth Welfare Congress), is the biggest child and youth welfare summit in Europe.
The Child and Youth Welfare Association (AGJ) organises a DJHT every three to four years.
30.000 youth workers, youth policymakers, (youth) researchers, and representatives from other relevant fields from all over Germany and Europe attend this huge meet-up.
It is a place to exchange opinions and experiences and to learn, develop, and discover new perspectives. DJHT comprises two complementary components, a conference and an exhibition space. Europe@DJHT is the European programme of DJHT, appealing to a broader and more international expert audience and encouraging a more international debate on current issues, and is organised in cooperation between AGJ and JUGEND für Europa.
What’s it all about?
Europe@DJHT invites European participants to join in critical discussions on current challenges and topics of youth welfare and youth policy across Europe. Besides, it provides an opportunity for networking, sharing of practice examples, and peer learning. Therefore, join us!
What’s in it?
We will set up an exciting four-day programme built around the questions of what challenges youth work has to face and what youth work can offer in these times in Europe. All Europe@DJHT events can be attended in both English and German.
The programme of Europe@DJHT includes:

→ The official opening event of the DJHT as such, followed by an opening event of the European conference programme with the title “Shaping the future: youth work in times of societal and political change”, which will discuss major transformation processes young people and societies are facing and what they mean for youth work
→ Up to 30 events in the European conference programme, dealing with a variety of experiences, developments, and trends in European youth work, European youth policy, international exchange and mobility as well as opportunities for further training for organisations and professionals from the international youth work community
→ Among those, several events targeting priorities of the EU youth programmes, such as political participation, sustainability, civil society engagement, inclusion & diversity and digitalisation
→ A joint closing event of AGJ and JUGEND für Europa
→ Additional activities to discover the offers and opportunities of youth work in Leipzig and close by
