Youth@Work: Youth work as a supporter of entrepreneurial thinking – study visit and partnership building activity

This study visit and partnership building activity is focusing on how youth work can support young people’s entrepreneurship-skills. During the visit you will get to know different methods that are used in Finland.

Aims and Objectives:

This study visit and partnership building activity is focusing on how youth work can support young people’s entrepreneurship-skills and entrepreneurial thinking. During the visit you will get to know different methods and approaches that are used in Finland. Focus will be on the methods and working models that are mainly used with underage youth. Our Location will be central Finland, in the town of Jyväskylä, so one ingredient is also rural surroundings.

First aim of the study visit is to get to know good practices on how to support young people’s entrepreneurship-skills.  We will get a general understanding about how young people are supported in entrepreneurial thinking and even how a young person can become an entrepreneur themselves. Different methods from NGO´s like 4H, Youth Entrepreneurship House Innola, Young Achievement etc. will be showcased during the study visit.

Other element of the study visit is peer sharing. You are also invited to share your work, practices, and methods related to young people’s entrepreneurship-skills. This gives participants an opportunity to learn from each other and an arena to present their own practices.

Second as important aim is to encourage participants to create and build partnerships and learn how European Youth Programs can be used.  Aim is to recognize potential tools from European Youth Programs (Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps) and even find suitable partners among the participants for future projects.

You can find a program draft of the event on this page. Note, that there can be minor changes to the program. Arrival will be on 12th June and departure on 16th June, and we expect that all participants will respect this timetable.

Participants:

This study visit is targeted for youth workers and representatives from NGO´s and municipalities that are working with young people’s entrepreneurship-skills. We are looking for participants who are working directly with this topic or who oversee the development of these kinds of services for young people. We will not select participants who only have a personal interest in this topic and have no concrete connection to youth work or work with young people’s entrepreneurship-skills.

Participants should also be interested in creating projects under European youth programs (Erasmus+ & European Solidarity Corps), but there is no need to have previous experience on these. Working language will be English.

Our activities are accessible to people with different abilities. If you need a support person, accessible room and transport or other kind of support, we will provide it for you. You can tell your individual needs in beforehand so we can support you in your participation.

We take sustainability in consideration where we can. Since most participants must fly over the sea to Finland, we encourage you to travel on land within Finland. We also encourage you to contact your own national agency to find out how they support low emission travelling to activities abroad.

We provide plant-based meals, or use locally grown and produced foods, as much as possible. We also respect the diets and food allergies of all participants.
