Digital Youth Work and Educational Obstacles

Main aim of the activity is to increase the number and improve the quality of Erasmus+ and ESC projects involving young people in NEET situation.

Context

After a second year of pandemic situation, the educational context has been strongly modified by digital methods, tools and practices. This condition has influenced in different ways and at different level the involvement of young people, especially the ones facing educational obstacles.

In such context and in the framework of SPI Partnership (the Long Term Strategic Activity on Inclusion existing among National Agencies with the SALTO I&D coordination), the Italian National Agency decided to organise a transnational seminar with the aim to create a space of re-connection between organisations and youth workers on the topic of digital youth work and educational obstacles faced by young people in NEET situation.

With the support of professional trainers, experts and the active contribution of the participants, we wish to explore who are the youngsters beyond the NEET categories, how to reach them and in which contexts, which tools can be used thanks to the digital world and European opportunities. During the seminar, participants will have the chance to visit in person one or two different practices where the digital youth work has represented a solution to overcome the educational obstacles of young people or where a shared vision between formal and non formal methods has produced relevant results on the young people learning paths.

General objective:

Main aim of the activity is to increase the number and improve the quality of Erasmus + and European Solidarity Corps projects that involve young people in NEET situation, increasing the number of participants that fall in this condition, but also the type of organizations that works with this target group, new comers organisations and/or with a limited experience.

Specific objectives:

  • Creating a space of reflection and analysis on young people in NEET situation and, if possible, redefining borders and profiles of such target in a comparative panorama of the countries participating in the activity.
  • Exploring which educational obstacles young people are facing in this times in their learning processes, through formal, non-formal and informal contexts (schools, organizations, youth centres, on line spaces, families and in the spare times with their peers).
  • Discovering which tools are available from the youth work field, e.g. from the digital latest experiences, to overcome phenomena of isolation, disillusion on learning, sense of not belonging and incapability to be involved for young people in Neet situation.
  • Exploring the tools provided by Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps Programmes as inclusive and quality opportunities to access to international mobility for young people with fewer opportunities.

Target Group: 23 Participants with the following profile:

  • Youth workers with experience in working with young people in NEET situation but without or small experience in the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity corps programme.
  • Teachers, alternative education staff, vocational programme staff
  • Social workers, representatives of social services
