European Academy on Youth Work – Webinar 3: Rethinking innovation – what kind of innovator are you?

Would you like to take a moment to explore the concept of Innovation in youth work with colleagues from across Europe? In this webinar, we will look into individual competences that make a difference when teams want to create innovative projects.

We are excited to invite you to the third webinar of the pre-European Academy of Youth Work (EAYW) webinar series Learning in Times of Disruption and Change.

A few words of introduction…

The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic require youth workers and other professionals in the field of youth work to rethink and adapt their approaches and ways of working. In the EAYW, we want to support the professional development of youth workers and other professionals in youth work practice, policy and research, even in times of uncertainty, like the ones we are living today.

Learning in Times of Disruption and Change webinars are 2-hour long dynamic online sessions where you will explore the concept of Innovation in your practice with other colleagues from different parts of Europe.

About the 3rd webinar: Rethinking innovation – what kind of innovator are you?

Time: 27th January, 9.30 – 12.00 Central European Time.

In our work environments, we know that not everyone is innovation savvy. Not all of us like to try new approaches, and some of us really prefer to stay on safe paths. But in the European Academy of Youth Work, we believe everyone can be an innovator.

Some of us will be the creative person that loves to explore alternatives, and some of us will be the organising force that will transform that new idea into a beautifully planned project. Some of us will work like big antennas always capturing new youth trends, and some will make sure that the team will drive innovation responsibly. When it comes to finding new solutions in times of disruption, every hand is needed on deck.

In this webinar, we will look into those individual competences that do make a difference when teams want to create innovative solutions that are creative but also efficient, sustainable and ethical.

The webinar will start at 9:30 CET with optional 20 min. of well-being activities, led by embodiment trainer Sandra Gojić. These activities are aimed at preparing ourselves for a good online learning moment by awakening our body, our senses and our mind. They may include gentle stretching exercises, meditation, movement or breathing practices.

From 10.00 – 12.00 CET, the content-part of the webinar will include short inputs from research and practice and well as moments of exchange among participants allowing you to relate the inputs to your and the other participants’ youth work-related experiences.

We are excited to have Federica Demicheli from the EAYW research team with us, as well as Seamus Quinn, Dramatherapist and Drama Practitioner (MA, IACAT), who works at the Trinity College Dublin National Institute for Intellectual Disability and also with Adolescent/Adult Mental Health Services.

Seamus Quinn will present the I-SAVE project (https://isaveproject.eu/), an ongoing European project coordinated by Gaiety School of Acting- The National Theatre School of Ireland, focusing on Inclusive Self-Advocacy Education and Empowerment for Young Refugees and Asylum Seekers living in temporary accommodations. The project aims to develop an innovative, youth-led educational and empowerment programme to enhance young refugees’ knowledge of their human rights, allowing them to safeguard their well-being, and to become self-resilient and independent adults.

You will be able to learn more about the project, and we will also talk to our experts about the role of innovators and the competences that help to drive and sustain innovations in youth work.
