The Youth@Work:Social Entrepreneurship for Youth Employability training will promote among youth workers &professionals understanding of social entrepreneurship & motivation for social business as a tool to tackle unemployment&increase social commitment.

General description: The Youth@Work “Social Entrepreneurship for Youth Employability (SEYE)” training course is aligned within the objectives of the Youth@Work Partnership, of the new EU Youth Strategy (2019-2027) and with the European Youth Goals. The training course will promote among youth workers and concerned professionals a better understanding of social entrepreneurship and the interest in and motivation for social business as a tool to tackle unemployment and increase social commitment.

This training course will support participants to develop new competencies through the application of innovative methods and tools. It will explore diverse inspiring experiences from the entrepreneurial ecosystem, allowing participants to discover the European entrepreneurship competences framework and motivating them to gain new competences to create entrepreneurial initiatives. From a general overview of the present time and the future of work and youth, through the definition of entrepreneurship and its main elements, participants will design entrepreneurial ideas from practical tools and will discover diverse online platforms where to find further support and information. The final goal of this activity is to launch an invitation to youth workers to embrace social entrepreneurship as a different way of looking at the business world.

Aim: The aim of this training course is to raise awareness of social entrepreneurship and its ecosystem in Europe through designing innovative business models.

Objectives:

  • To inform and raise awareness among participants about the characteristics, benefits, values and factors for success of social entrepreneurship, as a catalyst for youth employability
  • To introduce participants to the social business model and its values (social economy, circular economy, social impact, impact investment, sustainable development goals and sustainable economy)
  • To develop the competences of youth workers in designing and implementing social entrepreneurship ideas as innovative ways for tackling social problems
  • To motivate youth workers and other relevant actors in order to undertake and utilise social entrepreneurship as a force for youth employability
  • To promote entrepreneurship and European policies and activities in the field of social economy

Venue: Trabzon is located in the Black Sea region. The Blacksea region is considered an agricultural, logistical and touristic center. The total population of the region is of 4 million people and the youth unemployment rate is around 20%. On top of youth unemployment, the region also faces some other problems, like the absence of social entrepreneurship, women’s underrepresentation, migration and brain drain. On the other hand, there’s a high potential of young people, there is also a high percentage of well-educated students due to the presence of 6 universities in the region, a good connection within the region and four-seasons’ weather. In the region there are development agencies and supporting institutions. Their priority is to support initiatives and projects aiming at youth and women’s entrepreneurship in the region.

The training course is part of the Youth@Work Partnership, which is an institutional alliance of 16 Erasmus+ National Agencies and SALTO-YOUTH Resource Centres.

In 2018, a consortium of 11 Erasmus+ Youth in Action National Agencies (NAs), 4 SALTO-YOUTH Resource Centres and the Resource Center for the European Solidarity Corps decided to take a new approach to support employability and entrepreneurship amongst young people and professionals. They, therefore, created the Youth@Work Partnership on Youth Employability and Entrepreneurship, with the aim to better address these areas by working collaboratively, based on a common strategy. Youth@Work is an alliance of the NAs of Turkey (the leading NA), Cyprus, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Poland, Republic of North Macedonia and Spain, with the support of the SALTO-YOUTH Eastern Europe and Caucasus (Poland), SALTO-YOUTH Euromed and Good Practices (France), SALTO-YOUTH South East Europe (Slovenia) and SALTO-YOUTH Training and Cooperation (Germany) Resource Centres, as well as the Resource Centre for the European Solidarity Corps (Austria). We are looking for 40 participants with the following profiles: Youth workers, Youth leaders, Youth project managers, Youth policy makers, Youth coaches, Youth researchers, Professionals from backgrounds of: Non-formal education/Youth, Higher education, Vocational education & training; Employment support agencies, job centres, job clubs, job coaches, Employers, Coaches, Formal Education Professionals, Employment counselors, etc.
