ABOUT THE PROJECT
This youth exchange is unique because life and work are complete they take place outdoors, under a clear and starry sky. It’s an exchange intended for those who like to ask questions and those who are ready to engage in a learning experience about mental health and the acquisition of practical psychosocial skills through contact with nature. Mental health is not only an individual problem, but a topic about which the community should care. Mental health at the cultural level it includes socioeconomic and political conditions that affect the social individual well-being. For example, poverty, unemployment, discrimination, and social exclusion may be associated with worse mental health in the population.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The exchange program provides theoretical knowledge about mental health, practical tools and life skills for dealing with stress and crises. We will learn about disorders, symptoms, emotional intelligence, concentration, awareness and recognition of emotions. Through the analysis of causes and consequences, personal feelings of shame, discomfort, fear, influence of culture on anxiety, expectations of gender roles, critical thinking will develop. The basic concept of exchange is experiential learning. We won’t engage in boring workshops and meaningless evaluations. Learning takes place through introspection exercises (contact with oneself); exercises in nature (contact with nature, plants, animals, different sensations); exercises with “others” (contacts in within the group, contacts with local population, social games).
