Course Objectives:
- To discover what a competence-based approach is and its applicability in the context of international youth work.
- To introduce the ETS competence model for youth workers working internationally and to link it to your personal youth work practice.
- To explore competence self-assessment tools.
- To reflect and develop youth work professional attitudes and behaviours
- To discover ways and tools for professional development.
Structure of the course
The course is divided into 7 content modules. The content of the modules has a logical order and therefore we recommend completing the course going from the first module to the last.
- Orientation module: Introduction to the course
- Module 1: A competence-based approach in international youth work
- Module 2: The ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers to Work Internationally (opens on 21st Nov, 18.00 CET Brussels)
- Module 3: Tools for competence self-assessment (opens on 21st Nov, 18.00 CET Brussels)
- Module 4: Attitudes in youth work (opens on 28th Nov, 18.00 CET Brussels)
- Module 5: The process of change (opens on 28th Nov, 18.00 CET Brussels)
- Module 6: Ways to develop attitudes and behaviours (opens on 5th Dec, 18.00 CET Brussels)
- Module 7: Using the competence model for professional development (opens on 5th Dec, 18.00 CET Brussels)
- Closing module: Learning and Evaluation (opens on 12th Dec, 18.00 CET Brussels)
Learning in this course is a bit similar to how you are used to learning elsewhere. There is material to read, videos to watch and forums to discuss. Each module is structured into 5-6 sessions offering different interactive learning content online, which is uploaded to the Canvas MOOC hosting platform. Participants learn through animated videos, pre-recorded video interviews and some educational texts.
Each module will require 1-4 hours to complete the activities.
Webinars
In this course, you will be able to join four webinars and interactive online sessions on specific themes related to the course content.

Facilitators
Laimonas Ragauskas : Laimonas lives in Vilnius, Lithuania and works as a facilitator in the field of non-formal learning and training for various youth work organisations as well as local and European institutions.
Nerijus Kriauciunas : Nerijus lives in Vilnius, Lithuania and works as a freelancer delivering international training activities in the youth work field at local and European levels.
Snežana Bačlija Knoch : Snežana is an educational consultant in the non-formal education and youth work field at local and European levels, as well as a certified youth worker.
