EU NGO Solidarity Network Workshop for People with disabilities taking place in Elazığ, Turkey, on 24-27 March 2022 as a part of part of the “Making the Invisible Visible – Mentally Disabled People in Europe and Turkey” project.
We invite you to the EU NGO Solidarity Network Workshop for People with disabilities taking place in Elazığ, Turkey, on 24-27 March 2022. The activity is part of the “Making the Invisible Visible – Mentally Disabled People in Europe and Turkey” (Detailed Information: http://dialoguefordisability.org ). The project aims to increase the visibility of people with intellectual disabilities in Europe and Turkey. It is implemented by Elazig Schizophrenia Solidarity Association and our partner institution APCC (Associação de Paralisia Cerebral de Coimbra) from Portugal. The project is funded by Civil Society Dialogue Programme VI ( www.civilsocietydialogue.org).
During the EU NGO Solidarity Network Workshop, we will gather 30 different public and private organization representatives from EU and Candidate Countries and 15 organization representatives from Turkey to work on the issues of education, employment, and social participation of people with intellectual disabilities.
During the implementation of the project, we have implemented activities with public organization staff, families, and research with the people with intellectual disabilities in Turkey and Portugal. The research involved more than 100 people with intellectual disabilities living in under-state protection houses, private and public residential care houses, and the people with intellectual disabilities benefiting from the special education and social services in Turkey and Portugal. As a remarkable aspect of the research concerning Turkey for the first time, it includes the results of the people with intellectual disabilities living in closed institutions under state protection.
The workshop will consist of the following sections :
- Information about the project and outputs of the project (research and training materials)
- The NGO fair where every organization will have an opportunity to promote their activities
- Panel discussions on the employment, education, and social participation of people with intellectual disabilities
- Strategy development workshop for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in education, employment, and social participation
- Cooperation plan for implementing the EU NGO Solidarity Network between the involved organizations.
Our organization will cover all costs (accommodation and food) associated with the activity and travel costs up to 300 EURs per participant.
The detailed program will be provided by the 1st of February 2022. However, the arrival date of the event as ( 23rd of March 2022 ) and the departure date is foreseen as 27th of March.
The selection of the participants will be based on the geographical criteria as we plan to include one person per EU / Candidate country and the outreach of the participating organization.
